Pretty soon the birds will be chirping,
flowers blooming and butterflies flying.
You know what that means? Spring cleaning is in the air too.
Seeing, I am on a cleaning kick myself these days, I thought I would share with you some fun
Spring cleaning tips and tricks.
I think the first thing I always WANT to tackle, however, I don’t are the windows.
I wait until the pollen has completely left the air.
You are wasting your time otherwise and I have been down that road before.
I bet you can relate.
SOOO…
I tackle the inside FIRST.
TOP ten PLUS more indoor Spring cleaning tips and tricks.
All highlighted links take you to the projects:)
1. If you have stainless steel in the kitchen…get rid of all those smudges and finger prints.
I use Spray way..LOVE it.
They also make a fabulous glass cleaner.
2. Get those closets cleaned and organized.
{I need to get some more of those no slip hangers} I have a few and they are great!
3. Clean the fridge
{who likes moldy salsa?}
4. Wipe down those walls, especially behind the doors…you would be surprised what is on them.
5. Spruce up the house, with some new pillows and bed linens
6. Time for those carpets to get cleaned.
How to clean your carpets organically
{baking soda and water is fabulous for the tile and for the glass a simple vinegar and water solution does the trick}
8. Clean those baseboards
{A fabric softener sheet is wonderful to use}
9. Clean the blinds
{ I use fabric sheets on those too}
10. Now head outside and start digging in your gardens, the inside is done!
Of course need I mention some of the basics, like the garbage disposal smell? you run lemon, orange, grapefruit…citrus peel, at any rate, and I actually think lemon works best–through the disposal.
Oh and don’t forget to clean out that garbage can, just look under that lid..crud city!
Needless to say, this is why you have not seen too much of me around.
I am on a serious Spring cleaning kick.
I have tackled about half my list above.
Have a great day!~

You’ve been busy! We are still buried under snow, so I haven’t got in the spring cleaning kick yet (I’m still busy creating my craft room). Great tips, didn’t know about the dryer sheets, good idea!

Always love some tips and tricks, especially on blinds! Also, I LOVED your comment on my blog the other day! Isn’t Anna fantastic!!! She and I got to know each other back in 2009 when we both started blogging and blogland was still pretty small…love the people and friends you can meet this way! 🙂 Big hugs to you and your mother, Debbie! <3

I have GOT to clean the windows this year. I guess I just told on myself 😉 Very good point to wait until after the pollen has cleared out of the air. I will remember that. I wish I could rip the carpet out and replace it with wood floors instead of cleaning it….one day.
Nana Diana
I wish it would be warm enough here to open the house up and start thinking of spring cleaning. You are way ahead of me. I use Pledge on my stainless steel and it works better than anything I have ever used- xo Diana

Spring is no where near me yet. We still have snow and it is snowing every day. I need to clean the fridge right now. How the heck can that thing get so dirty on the inside?

Great tips! I only moved in to this house 3 months ago, but the windows need the cleaning. We are waiting until after pollen season :-).
Sue
You and I are on the same kick, Deb! I’m going room by room – something about the gray days of February that gets me going on a cleaning frenzy! I’m doing the floor grout with the steamer, too. Crazy!

Hi Debbie Dear! Great tips. I love the one about the dryer sheets! I need to get to spring cleaning around here. I’m getting lazy in my olden age.
Be a sweetie,

You’ve been a busy bee!! Ya know what else fabric sheets are great for, a casserole dish with a baked on mess! Fill it with hot water and add a sheet or two within 15 to 20 mins everything that’s stuck to the sides comes right off!!
Lisa Palmese (me)
Love the fabric Softener sheet on the blinds. I have shutters on all my window knew about the base boards which everyone forgets, and remember the doors use Mr. Clean Eraser on the Doors and on the door knobs I use Clorox clean up wipes. I want to know how to clean mirrors well?? I use Magic on my painted furniture and regular It leaves no build up and smells good.But mirrors are a pain in my …. Windex not good enough I have tried vinegar and water that works the best then wipe off with newspaper. Who still has newspaper?? lol Need help on that As always enjoyed your post.
Kathy @ Creative Home Expressions
Thanks for the tips, Debbie! I’m going to try the garbage disposal one and the fabric softener sheet on the baseboards. I don’t really have a major deep cleaning to do for Spring since I’ve been trying to do it throughout the year every month. I will have a window cleaning company come for the windows though, since we have high half circle windows {4} and I don’t do ladders. Good idea to wait until after the pollen is done.
Cynthia
We do our windows after the pollen and then again in the fall. The landscapers also make our windows dirty, when they use the blower stuff flies everywhere.

Hey there Debbie!!! Wow you are energetic and proactive!!! I’m just going to ignore my spring cleaning for awhile…well at least until it starts behaving like “spring.” One thing I do use on my stainless tho…..Lemon oil. It shines them up beautifully and gets the hard baked-on kid goo fingerprints off. Must be careful to not leave too much on tho….dust and lint particals tend to collect on over oiled areas.
Well that’s my 2 cents for today! Thanks for sharing and trying to get us motivated!!!

You are ahead of the game, Debbie! Thanks for the tips! I’m going to stock up on the baking soda and vinegar…they really are the powerhouses of cleaning.
Happy Sunday!

Great list Debbie! I love Magic Erasers for cleaning doors, moulding, even the cooktop. Now if only I could get out in the yard and start my gardening. Too much snow this year. We have over 3 feet in our backyard right now. Ugh!!
Keep up the good work!
Pam
Kris
Good Morning Debbie,
I love all your tips. I have done the dryer sheet and it does work. I also use them on my mirrors and windows makes everything shinny. You cracked me up with the 1990’s shirt I have a few of thoses!!!!!!! I also have the different size collection in my closet too!!!! You know just in case I wake up one morning and am 2 sizes smaller!!!!!! I think it is time to purg and give to Good Will. We still have alot of snow but I think I may take your advice and start on closet purging!!!! Have a great week end.
Kris

I am in need of some serious Spring cleaning but it is so hard to get into Spring cleaning when there is still quite a bit of snow on the ground! I am having fun getting the driveway clear since the temps are warming up. LOL Oh the fun we have 🙂

I like the fabric softener idea. One thing that I always do is clean the fan blades. Also, I can’t forget about behind my kids bed!
