Simple pleasures, and I challenged myself to be a copy cat!

By Debbiedoo's Team Published: Apr 28, 2011

Today, I am going to make my coffee talk series, short and sweet!
Today, as I was driving home from Aldi’s eating a candy bar, I was so happy and almost felt a feeling of relaxation, no NOT almost,
I did feel relaxed.
Can you believe, I have these pretty corner windows in my kitchen, and never once do I lift the blinds and have ever put pretty little window vases with flowers in them? Now that is a simple pleasure, I have been missing out on.
I bought these cute little vases from Dollar tree last year.
If you have never had Aldi’s chocolate I really do recommend it.
(Thanks Mom) Now so far I have tried around 5 different candy bars…NOT in one day of course, but they are all good.  The milk chocolate one with almonds in it, is addicting, and you can’t stop at one piece..don’t say I did not warn you!
(these are the windows I am speaking of…Man does it look nice with the blinds up! No rocket science to figure that out, but apparently, I never thought of it!
Aldi’s chocolate is  the very best chocolate I ever ate in my life…that is a pretty good claim, and again, I am not getting paid to say these things.
Now you want to know my challenge…OK well on the back of Country Woman magazine was a fabulous photos of flowers and tea…the gals and I admired it so.  Today, I thought, I am going to try to copy that…I have so many fresh flowers around my house today, why not?
Not too bad for my first time trying to copy…I do have some tweaking and learning to do. In fact I learned a few new tricks yesterday I can’t wait to try sometime.
Well anyhow, got to thinking about simple pleasures… and that is truly one of mine…
Fresh flowers and chocolate:)
 What is your simple pleasure?
Keep it clean please this is a kid friendly show! (JK, JK)

Beautiful job copying the composition! I think drinking coffee at Barnes & Noble with a big pile of decor mags is one of my simple pleasures. And if one of those Godiva bars finds it's way to my table, all the better. Great topic! Thanks for sharing.

You did a fabulous job being a copy cat Debbie! Your photography skills have changed so much since you began blogging!

I have many simple pleasures but here are just a few of my simple pleasures are cuddling with my grandson; cuddling with my furbabies; walking on the beach; and sitting on my patio in the very early morning with a cup of tea and listening to the birds singing.

Great copying job Debbie…..as for my simple pleasures, I do have a few of them. I just love sitting out on my porch, with a glass of wine, watching life go by. Driving my car on country back roads with the windows open and the music blasting, and just just being home with my family.

Your copy is dead on! I don't know what you need to tweak! Is the chocolate an Aldi's brand or is it Rittersport? I love Aldi's and love that you have to pay a quarter for your cart! I need to send you some Milka. It is the BEST chocolate in the world!!! The one filled with strawberry cream is to die for! That is a simple pleasure for me! My simple pleasures are just quiet times to enjoy Tom and Jemma!

My simple pleasure is chocolate. I don't really like any other sweet things, just milk chocolate. Now my favorite is Cadbury cream eggs so this time of year I am having a simple pleasure just about everyday. I usually give up chocolate for lent, which is not easy, and spend the next several weeks eating one a day after Easter. I only eat one…but I try to make it last at least 10 minutes.

I adore chocolate. I don't think we have the Aldi brand around here.

I LOVE fresh flowers in my house and all of these are beautiful! The vases are very nice too. I'm not a candy person…can you believe that? I never even think of eating it. Just wish that I felt the same about cookies, pie, cake, etc. Those are my downfall.

I think I have a lot of simple pleasures since I retired. One thing I love is to have my coffee in bed in the mornings and watch TV ~ something I've recorded when I didn't have time to sit and watch. If my Forrester sleeps in, I can do this easily. On the weekends, I read the paper instead of having the TV on. Quiet time…

Hope you're resting from your big day!

Simple pleasures? The glass of wine that I am sipping as I enjoy your post. Listening to the steady tap of rain on the roof, and being thankful that, so far at least, the tornadoes that have encircled my neck of the woods have steered clear of my home. Knowing that the 20 years that I have invested in my daughter have resulted in an amazing young woman.

And, oh yeah, taking pictures that somehow turned out far better than I could have imagined! 🙂

I haven't seen Country Woman magazine, but I think your vignette is truly lovely. Your talk about simple pleasures reminds me of a book that I read several years ago (& have read at least 2 more times since then) titled "Simple Abundance" by Sarah Ban Breathnach. It was written to read a chapter each day for a year & follow through with some simple "tasks" to help us each realize how to appreciate the "simple pleasures" in life. It's really a lovely book.
