Howdy there everyone!
Today I am sharing some recycled jar and tin can candle crafts I made. These would make great gifts for the Holidays. Whether it be an exchange at work, for friends or just because. Everyone loves a personal gift of love hand made.
The candles are soy and I found this wonderful tutorial on
How to make soy candles if you are interested. I was going to sell them, and after I thought about it, I opted not to.
I have too much on my plate as it is. These do make for wonderful gifts though.
I am sharing here today what I have made. Some will be in mason jars
while others are recycled jars and cans to create a one of a kind candle.
You can buy soy wax and supplies on line. I believe I found most on Amazon.
You may remember by recycled can caddies I made for my office.
All the painted jars are done with Americana decor chalky paint
I really loved this burlap and bee one and thought how cute to make it a candle.
You already know if you are a regular, I really Love my cans
recycled cans that is!!
This sisal wrapped can I am almost tempted to keep.
That is going to be a problem me making these candles,
I will want to keep them all for myself.
This was an olive jar. I painted, waxed and stenciled.
The lid I spray painted with rust-o-leum Lagoon blue.
LOVE them!

I love them all but my favorite is the burlap and bee one….love it!

They are all so pretty but I think the bee and burlap one is my favorite, Debbie! I have been saving jars from our candles that are burnt out and have a candle kit from Christmas that we are going to try. My husband is more of a candle nut than I am!
I did a little recycled can project myself this past week as part of my daughter’s Mother’s Day gift. I love being able to reuse things that would just have gone into the recycling can.
You are just too darn clever Debbie. They all look great, but the burlap and bee is my favorite. I just might have to be a “copycat”. Never made candles but want to try your tutorial. Love, love them all. Peggy

Wow, these are so cute! I made candles in shells & assorted things a number of years ago, long before soy candles were around and they were so hard to do. I’ve heard soy candles are so much better, I wish I had time to try them. Maybe one day…(seems to be my mantra!) Debbie 🙂

I have a question. I would like to make soy candles as a program with families at the library I work for. I have a 90 minute program. I think they would have to decorate the jar first–I’m thinking painting them–so that the candles can then sit and set properly. Would this craft work if the jars are painted first?
