Finally,
I am sharing the Laundry room makeover reveal with you!
Who would think a little tiny space could wreak so much havoc!
First thing I wanted to do is makeover the piece o crud utility sink.
This is actually a replacement to the builder grade one.
However, it is a piece oh crud.
All particle board, flimsy and light as a feather.
It serves a purpose though, and until a nice one is in the budget, this will do.
First let me share the old laundry room look.
Yes, very bright and cheery room before.
I was tired however, of those vines.
They just started to remind me of my 80’s decorating style.
Even though I loved my 80’s, not so much in the decorating dept.
I kept my roo’s in here. Our laundry room is right off the kitchen, so I wanted it to flow, not clash.
The color I chose is called Shore, by restoration hardware.
Lovely color, but completely different than what I was used to in here.
Honestly, at first, I did not like it.
I thought, OH no, how am I going to cozy up this room with such a cool color.
Seriously, we all want a cozy laundry room right?
I found this old washboard many moons ago.
Now these little chalk board ROO’s I am in love with.
I found them at Target .
Very easy to peel and adhere to the walls, and look, I can write on them.
You know this big ole white utility/electric boxes we all have?
Well I decided to paint it with black chalkboard paint, and actually make it something useful!
This wire basket I found at an antique shop for a few bucks. Two of them actually, and One I decided I would hang, and make useful as well.
My Burlap valance
HERE
Now moving on to the piece oh crud.
I was not going to waste my time and energy on painting the entire piece.
However, I thought a few fun colors added on, could make the difference.
and of course a little embellishment.
I hand dotted these knobs, instead of running out to buy new ones.
Painted them black, then took my craft paint and used a tooth pick to dot the dots.
I spray painted the inserts..and then distressed them.
I had these old laundry prints as well.
Bought those off of ebay many years ago.
They were in plain oak frames and I painted these black.
Remember my spray painted/Stenciled garden boots?
Also, painted one of the wood plaque embellishments, you may
see what started that
A little color and whimsy goes a long way.
And we can’t forget Lucy’s crate….
I am still getting used to the color change. I am happy though with the new rug I found at Lowes, I think it brought all my colors together.
My bulletin board makeover HERE
So that is what I have been working on foreva!
Thanks for stopping by today!
Love if you followed me along..

Shari @ Turnstyle Vogue

Sonny

Pat@Back Porch Musings
This is fantabulous Debbie! I love how you redesigned the sink! Bravo!

Laura @ Our Prairie Home
Love it, Debbie! What a wonderful difference! And what a great idea to turn the utility box into a chalkboard. I’d been wondering what I could do with the one in my upstairs bathroom. 🙂
Cynthia
Debbie what wonderful job and wonderful difference. I know when we redid our laundry room it made a huge difference when doing laundry, which, never seems to go away! LOL!
Cynthia
Victoria
Oh I have to show this to my MIL, she will love it!!! Her whole kitchen is rooster and since her laundry room is right off her kitchen, I’m sure that will be rooster-ized soon too…we’re going up there next weekend, I’ll have to see if I can hunt down some of those chalk roosters at Target!
Savannah Granny
Adorable, I love every inch of it, even tho I don’t love laundry.
Hugs, Ginger

Looks so nice, I like the new look, the old was nice to though, you make decorating so much fun,
Judy
I love the new color. I think it looks so much more updated. We all loved those vines at one time. The rug definitely pulls it all together.
Bliss
I’m not sure what to pick as my fav I like it all. Goes without saying Lucy’s spot, so I’ll pick another….. hmmm….. I think it has to be the update to the laundry sink. My laundry is BEGGING for something, and I have some vines with ribbon in the stairway that have got to go. I don’t have a window in there so no worry about making an evil burlap valance.

Bet you love doing laundry now!!
Love the color – I was never a fan of blue either – but put it in my bathroom and am loving it! Love that old washboard (I have one in my basement – surprise)!
Cute chalkboards – and love that you chalk boarded (new word) the utility box!
Burlap valance rocks too!
Piece of crud no more – hey, that would have been a great title!

So very cute Debbie! My favorite elements are the darling rug that (you are right) pulls all the fun colors together and the vintage-looking laundry posters. You are inspiring me to get my laundry room “share-worthy”.
Shannon Fox
Oh it looks great! So “you”. The roo’s on the wall. Fab! The rug really does pull it all together. Those laundry prints are so vintagey cute!! The cabinet looks great with it’s refresher. Those are super fun colors =)
It’ll be happy laundry time now =)

I love your “new and improved” laundry room. I think that laundry sink looks great with your creative paint job. I also really like that cute soap holder. Your rug definitely pulls all your colors together. It makes doing laundry a little less painful, right?
Amy
Love the wall color!
SoonerLaura
Love the washboard! I have one in my laundry room too. There is a picture of it on my post last month about making over the laundry room sink.
{Adventuresindinner}
Now THAT is gorgeous and bright. Right down to the fun wellies. I feel like I’m in the dungeon when I’m doing my laundry.
Shenita
Wow, Debbie! You’ve added so many whimsical touches! What a wonderfully cheery place to do laundry! You have been a busy lady!
Gail
What a fun laundry room Debbie……I love it all especially the wash board! I use to have one but I’m not sure what I have done with it. Hope you are having a wonderful day, Gail
Kim Hites
I think RH’s Shore is a nice color for your laundry room. I really like all their paint colors. The chalkboard roosters are killing me….they’re great!
Sue
I think your newly re-done laundry room looks awfully cute, Debbie! Now that you’ve had such good luck with the “crap” laundry tub, I think you should take a paintbrush to the stained cabinetry, as well. They would look adorable in the same colorway. 🙂 Just a thought……. What do ya thing?
♥ the way the multi-colored rug pulls it all together, too.! ~ Sue

There is no way my husband would let me touch those hickory cabinets…I have already hinted LOL!

WOW…thanks everyone! I have been out all day and just came home to all these lovely comments. I really did not think it was that great…that is why I took so long to share it. You all made my day..THANK YOU:)! XO

Looks great Debbie- that’s a nice color you chose! The chalk board roosters are cute! I like the new rug a lot- it pulls the colors together! Cute!
MariaElena
Debbie, I love, love your new laundry room! The colors are perfect! I love the way the blue looks your cabinets and the sink looks perfect. What a wonderful space you have created!
Kim @ Cheap Chic Home
This room is so cute, Debbie. I know what you mean about the color change–I’m all about warm colors, a cool room would take awhile to get used to. The chalkboard additions are so smart–the “crud” as you call it looks so charming now–and leave it to Sonya to add ruffles to a coffee sack, gotta love that girl! P.S. Nice WordPress switch ;).

Thanks Kim….I am getting used to the change now.
Vanessa
It looks so awesome Debbie!!! You know what my favorite thing about it is? It still is so YOU!! Bringing in that blue color definitely freshens it up, but it is so nice to see someone embrace other colors as well and it has such a cheerful feeling to it. There seems to be so much neutral out there and we color gals gotta stick together right? You did a fantastic job transforming this room and I love it!

Cheers girl…you got it! I think we let our homes speak to us…mine tells me color please!
Sharon Hines
So many things to love about this makeover! The blue paint is very pretty….and the wood of the cabinets looks so warm against the backdrop of the blue. The rooster chalkboards are adorable. You’re right, that rug from Lowes was a great find…it really does pull together all of the colors. You can just tell everyone you had the rug and used if for your inspiration. HAha! What Iove most about the laundry room is that it is so YOU!

Your laundry room turned out just adorable. My favorite part is paining the utility sink with the yellow and green, that really made the room pop. Looks like a charming area to do the dreaded laundry chore in:)
Roxanne Reinhart
Your laundry room turned out so cute!! I love the polka dotted knobs you creative girl! And the utility sink so cute!!

It looks great! I really love the wall color! I know it’s probably different for you, but it is pretty.

The Polka Dot Closet
I love it, first i would love to have an inside laundry! The Target Roosters are great! Oh and of course I love the polka dot knobs, for the next time you do small polka dots (Because i have done many) you can use the handle of a paint brush, you know the little artists brushes. Great job!
Carol

Oh cool beans, that is a great tip…thanks Carol!
CAS
It looks great, Debbie! I like the new color & you definitely worked your magic here and there to warm it up and
“fun it up”…..lol! Your utility sink looks much better than mine. Mine is the free-standing kind tucked over in it’s own little alcove, but The Man wants to redo that with a built-in sink cabinet with a cabinet above it. I have the rest of our laundry room looking pretty good & am tempted to share it & not show the utility sink area. Maybe I’ll do that.
CAS
Michelle
It looks great! Very well put together! I like what you did with the cabinet and the rug compliments everything well! 🙂

How cute Debbie! I love how you painted the sink cabinet and dotted those knobs. The rug really pulls it all together. I’m going to check our Lowe’s for it tomorrow. It would look cute in my laundry room too!
Jane @ Cottage at the Crossroads
Gosh! I don’t know where to start! I love everything you’ve done in your laundry room, from the polka-dot knobs to the rubber boots! It has your personality all over it. Redoing our laundry room/back porch is on my list of things to do this year!
gail

Debbie, this looks great! I LOVE the new color and your right that rug ties everything together beautifully! LOVE IT! I SO NEED TO DO MY LAUNDRY ROOM!!! But it is a really large room and the catch all for everything in the house from yard tools to the kitty litter box!! 🙁 So right now it is WAAAAAAAY down on the list of things to do….but have inspired me to bump it up a notch! Thanks!
Lou Cinda 🙂
Kate - The Garden Bell
My most favorite of your makeovers yet. Great job. Fun colors. Love the knobs with the dots. Any the rug….well don’t get me started. OK, to it’s back to reality now that I’ve been living in my laundry room since I got back. Time to check out the gardens and get digging, snapping and posting again.
Erika
Wow, you are amazing! I liked the before and wouldn’t have changed anything… then I saw the after! I love the color and all the accessories and details… the sink looks awesome now. I love it all! I hate my laundry room, it is the unfinished part of the basement and the worst looking room in the house. One day, I would love to fix it up and make it half as beautiful as yours!
Pat
I know the color is a huge change for you but I think it looks wonderful! Sometimes these changes just have to grow on us, right? 😉 All of your color touches are perfect and the rug looks like it started the room. Such a nice area to do laundry, one chore I never mind doing!
xo

Debbie,
Love your new laundry room and the chalkboard roo’s are just too cute!! I really need to do our laundry room too. Your photos have inspired me to getting to thinking about what I would really like to do in there.
BTW-I nominated you for The Versatile Blogger Award today. I hope that you will stop by my blog to read all about it and accept it.
Have a great evening!

The laundry room is a heaven. Boots with plant and the new colour cabinet are lovely. Oh, all are lovely and sweet place to stay.
Cheryl Thornton
It is gorgeous…I so have laundry room envy…however the hubby emailed this morning and told me to look around for a project to work on for this weekend – WE ARE SO DOING THE LAUNDRY ROOM – Its the room I spend the most time in during the week and because its tucked away in the corner of the basement it never seems to get worked on…not sure mine will turn out as cute…but anything would be better than the way it is…thanks for the inspiration!
Shelia
Oh, honey! Your laundry room turned out so cute! I love that blue color you chose. Love what you did to your little sink area too! 🙂 You’re the bomb. I said that already, haven’t I? But it’s true! 😉
Be asweetie,

Richella @ Imparting Grace
That rug is perfect for pulling all the colors together, Debbie! You did a good job making this flow from your kitchen, I think. And while “elegant” seems to be the current theme for laundry rooms, I honestly think I like laundry rooms to be CHEERFUL. Right now, I’d just love for mine to be one-tenth as clean as yours. (Shoot, I’d like for my whole house to a fraction as clean as yours!)
I must say, though, that the idea of painting the utility panel is beyond cute and cheerful. It’s brilliant. What a great idea!
Elaine @ Sunny Simple Life
Debbie it is fabulous. I want those Target roos too. I love the colors and the rug. The boots are so cute and you have such style. Love it!!
Betsy(@coastal-colors)
This is wonderful! It makes doing laundry fun! It’s so bright and happy! I love the cabinet and the knobs are adorable! The chalkboard roos are great! It another amazing transformation!

It looks so great Debbie! You are right – the rug is the perfect anchor for your colors!
