Here I go again! I get on these kicks with things. It would appear my latest kick are tablecloths.
Now I look at them in a whole new light. After I did my tablecloth window treatments for the kitchen it opened up a whole new world of imagination for me. We just had our upstairs painted and I am in the process of swapping out the two boys rooms. Jack, our younger son wanted his big brothers room because it is larger. His big bro did not have a problem with that.
I have a slight catch to the whole room swapping though. You see, my Mom will be coming to stay with us in January for the Winter. After last years episode Doc gave her strict orders to get out of Buffalo in the winter time. Before he even told her that I told her that was the end of her winters there and she will come stay with us.
Although, we have the guest room downstairs it really doesn’t have the means for a long term stay. In other words, there is no TV or little sitting area for when my Mom wants to get away from us. However, upstairs she will have her own little sitting room and nice quiet bedroom.
With that said, it is technically going to be Alex’s room when he is home from college, so I had to think in unisex fashion. More hotel like decor. I figure if I make it neutral all I have to do is swap out some pillows and accessories depending on occupancy:)
Sorry for rambling. I feel a bit chatty today. Must be all the coffee I drank today.
So let’s start with the basics shall we?
Gorgeous paisley print tablecloth from Home goods 12.99. I can probably make 20 pillows with this one considering the size. I only made one so far though.
Instead of using the fabric stitch I have used in the past for my Home good hack curtains in the masterbedroom, I used a hot glue gun today. Only because that is what I had on hand. Works just as well.
I cut two pieces of fabric leaving around an inch and half on each side larger than the pillow insert. I always have pillow inserts on hand because I have made lots of no-sew pillows and change those out per season.
Then I took the fabric and had the print layered as such facing print side up on both. Then I simply hot glued three sides.
Turned it inside out, stuffed my pillow insert, and BAM! There is a pillow.
I had the burlap embellishments and I used twine to make my L..L for Linda my Momma!
I really think Alex and my Mom are going to dig their new pad. Of course, the paisley print monogrammed pillow won’t be there when Alex is:)
More to come on the room makeover. I have been busy. If you are wondering where the chair came from, that is Home goods too!
Pin it and try it at home. You will love the results.
Just think for $12.00 you can make placemats, runners, pillows, and more for that very low price!!

How nice to have your mom with you for the winter months. I agree a neutral room will serve two purposes. Brilliant idea Debbie.

Beautiful pillow Debbie, nice feminine touch for your Mom. It’s fun to do a ‘glue-sew’ once in a while. Very quick and don’t have to drag out the sewing machine etc (find the right color thread, thread the bobbin set the stitch length……etc).. By then your glue-sew is done!! Have a great Labor Day week end.

I have no sewing machine to drag out lol. So yes this was perfect for me Carol.
