Hey there everyone!
So glad to see you here today. Finally, I believe my site is back in circulation and you should be getting me delivered whenever I post.
Sure was lonely here without ya!
Today, I am sharing how to make your own cork coasters.
I whipped these out in no time.
I was thinking how cute these would be for hostess gifts, a teacher gift or just because I like you gift.
I had some left over cork from my upcycled window bulletin board project.
Nothing goes to waste around here and even though I only had a little left, I knew I could make something.
What you will need if you want to make the same thing
SUPPLIES:
Cork {I found mine at Walmart}
rubber stamp {found mine at Hobby lobby}
exacto knife
chalky paint or any craft paint will do.
You can even skip this step if you want and just keep the cork plain.
First cut your coasters exactly in a square.
You can use an existing coaster as your template if you have one.
Paint the cork and let dry for about an hour
Stamp whatever you like on there. Of course I did a rooster.
Surprise, Surprise!
I also painted the mason jar while I was at it.
You can see my all things mason jars post if you like mason jars. I have lots of neat ones there.
I have always said once a paint brush is in hand, you better look out.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Wish we could sit and have a cup of coffee together:)
I love my new coasters. I am real stickler on using coasters. Nothing worse than water rings on a coffee table.
My boys know better.
They use these burlap coasters I made a few years ago for the coffee table.
See you soon.
If you are not a subscriber I hope you join me. I am always up to something around here.
Stick around, I have plenty to look at:)

Those coaster are so cute Debbie! Love the roosters.

These turned out great, Debbie! I actually have some cork that I could use for this that is too small for any other project. Did you have to use Staz-On ink or is a regular old ink pad fine? Of course you picked a rooster! It wouldn’t have been a “Debbie Project” without one! : )

Hi Kathy, I used an ink pad dye. It was the near the stamps.

You just never stop, do you??? This caught my eye cause my HUBBY actually made some cork coasters several years ago!!! he had some left over and decided to make them:):) Great minds. He didn’t stamp them though:):)

Love this simple craft idea Debbie! I have SO many stamps that sit unused and this is a GREAT way to use them. Happy Weekend!

Oh so cute, and oh so inspiring…your coasters are creatively perfect and harder to find cute ones these days due to trends. Now as for water stains there are so many companies in designs namely Ralph Lauren who purposefully creates pieces with water stains and water rings for this purpose of design appeal adding age and distressing to it so as to enjoy pieces without the stress of abuse, welcoming any added abuse to a piece.
I lived with throws covering, matts covering, area rugs, coasters, runners, you name it and I finally said to myself no more I am going to let my pieces I create take on the beauty of wear and tear 🙂 graceful beauty.
So now I live less formal to a more used formality and let it take on life. Infact my mothers dinning table not for sitting at, just for looking at I took and distressed her stained grade table just so she could relax and let it take on years of use.
It was so hard for me to break free of the very OCD habits of keeping things perfect and cringe when someone sat, put up there feet, or play cards at my table with bracelets on, but now funny you mention water stains, I now welcome them! 🙂
I so love your style and your cork coasters make me want to create some for me! 🙂 with a French number on them!
Looking forward to your next post.
Going to go catch up on what I have missed in your older postings.

I hear ya..we have plenty of distressed and aged stuff around here that are kid friendly. But I am stickler for coasters on the coffee table as I refinished it myself and want to keep it nice for a few years anyhow.

Very fun coasters! Love the rooster!

Do these coasters not need to be sealed?
debbiedoo's
I didn’t seal these. But a little poly or wax on them wouldn’t hurt.
Kath Miras
Hi there, how do you stop the ink from running if it gets wet from a glass dripping (i.e., when ice is melting)? After you use the rubber stamp, do you have to spray the coaster with some kind of clear vanish or something to seal it?
These are great btw…..thanks!
Kath Miras
Sorry…I meant varnish/polyurethane, not ‘vanish’!! Lol
debbiedoo's
Yes, Kath, you can certainly do that, it would work.

Someone told me I need to make sure to seal the cork used for coasters. It will absorb the water and eventually fall apart. Is this true? If so, what do I seal it with?
