DIY fall glass votive candle holders are a wonderful way to infuse your home with the warmth and charm of autumn. In this easy-to-follow guide, we walk you through the process of turning ordinary glass votive holders from Dollar Tree into beautiful fall decorations.
Read on to discover how to decorate glass votive candle holders for the fall season, from gathering your supplies, applying Rit dye to sisal rope, and attaching the sisal rope to the votives to adding fall embellishments and showcasing your creation.
1. Gather your supplies
- Glass votive candle holders from Dollar Tree
- Sisal rope
- Rit dye (Scarlet Red, Apple Green, Evening Blue)
- Hot glue gun
- Sponge brush
- Fall embellishments like faux leaves and mini pinecones
2. Apply Rit dye to the sisal rope
To give your sisal rope a pop of color, you’ll be applying Rit dye before attaching it to the glass votive holders. I used Scarlet Red for one glass votive candle holder and Apple Green with a hint of Evening Blue for another, but feel free to mix colors if you prefer a unique shade.
To apply the dye to the sisal rope, use a sponge brush. Instead of mixing the dye with water, dab it directly onto the rope to achieve a more saturated color. Make sure to cover the entire length of the rope you’ll be using for your project, ensuring even coverage.
After you’ve applied the dye to the sisal rope, allow it to dry completely before proceeding to the next step. This will help prevent any color transfer onto the glass votive holders or your hands during the assembly process.
3. Attach the sisal rope to the glass votive candle holders
Decide how high you want the sisal rope wrap to go on the votive holder. Attach the sisal rope to the glass using the hot glue gun, wrapping it around the votive until you’ve reached the desired height.
4. Add fall embellishments
Use the hot glue gun to attach faux leaves and mini pinecones to the votive holders. Arrange the decorations in a visually appealing pattern, ensuring that the hot glue is secure before proceeding.
5. Display your DIY glass votive candle holders
Now it’s time to showcase your glass votive candle holders. I placed mine on a hanging pallet shelf, arranging them in an eye-catching display with a burlap-dyed rose. The upcycled pallet shelf, adorned with burlap and chicken wire, adds an extra touch of rustic charm. Finally, light the candles inside the holders to enjoy the warm, inviting ambiance of your unique fall decor.
Cute! The simple projects are the best. And you can always find neat things to use in projects at Dollar Tree.
