What a true statement this is indeed! “Don’t let comparison steal your joy”!
{Free 8 x 11 Printable}
I think in the blogging community, this may be more fitting than any other usage.
It is sometimes hard not to compare yourself to other bloggers.
Don’t you think?
I mean, there are so many of us.
While some bloggers just boom, and while others with talent,
fall to the wayside, just lurking and wishing they too can be seen or recognized for their talents as well.
The best advise I could give anyone, is if you Love what you do, and Love what you share,
you have to be first and foremost doing this for your own self gratification.
Be content with yourself!
And put yourself out there….you can and will make friends and have readers.
that has been the biggest lesson I have learned so far. And three years later, I am still here.
BTW….
this quote and printable I did
was all inspired by this
cute diy Pallet project
that linked up to ourPinterest party this past week.

Debbie, I LOVE that quote! I do get caught up in comparing myself sometimes, and it bums me out! This is a great quote to remember 🙂
I don’t do much with FB, but I will have to check out the party on your page. I always loved linking up to your Newbie (and graduate) parties-I understand it must be so time consuming and that this will work better for you!
Susan
Melanie
How very true Deb…and I thank you for doing this for everyone that is starting out. You were a HUGE help to me and I cannot begin to thank you enough! I agree whole heartedly about doing it because you love it or it is your passion…socail media is wonderful for spreading that passion and once again, I thank you my dear friend for being so kind to others…including me!
debbiedoo's
You both Susan and Melanie are very welcome. I met so many great people through this party who will always be near and dear to me.
Angela
What an excellent post! As one of the “newbies” last week, I cannot thank you enough for your generousity and time to help us out! Your one shout out created so much traffic (at least for me!), it was overwhelming and totally exilarating! I’m still on cloud nine! So many new friends were made and ideas exchanged! Thank you, Debbie for caring about us! I am eternally grateful! Have a wonderful Sunday!!!~~Angela

Your welcome Angela, I am hoping this new facebook chain party will be just as effective each time. I think it will be:) and like I said very engaging for non bloggers as well.
Angela
Oh, and I am definitely printing out this printable, framing it and hanging it in my office for future reference!!! It’s AWESOME!~~Angela

It really is daunting at times in the blogging world and yes, it’s easy to compare ourselves but dangerous too. For me, there are so many huge homes and lots more space to decorate and share. I need to get past that! I do think you’ve done an amazing thing in highlighting the newbies…and I’ve met some great friends this way. You should pat yourself on the back, girlfriend! 🙂 Having the visibility on FB should help many.
Thanks again for all you do…and have done!

Oh Pat you are so sweet, and I thank you for your support and friendship through the past three years. You have been awesome!

Debbie, love this wisdom. It is very true. Welcome home. Olive
Linda @ Itsy Bits And Pieces
I love this quote…it speaks to everyone! We are all on our own journey, and shouldn’t try to walk in another person’s footsteps! You’ve done a wonderful job with the newbie parties…good luck with the facebook linkups!
Nana Diana
I think you are so very right, Debbie. When I first started blogging I was overwhelmed by all the talent out there and how I felt I fell far short of everyone’s projects and talents. That was when I decided to write about what I love and use MY talent-which is having a sense of humor and being able to see the good in almost every situation-even those that appear hopeless sometimes. Do what you love-write what you love-that is the true calling of a success blog, I think.
It will be good to see how your Newbie FB thing works for everyone. xo Diana

And look at how many friends you have too have made Diana..you are a pure joy to have in our community, and not to mention just a refreshing change of pace with your sense of humor we can always walk away with a smile. XO

Well, I know almost nothing about social media (except for Pinterest, which I love), and you know a lot about it. I’ve been doing Welcome Wagon for nearly four years. So I’ll cover three new bloggers each week on my little blog. And you spread your talents networking social media (which I know is where it’s at, but I’m lame at Facebook and abysmal at Twitter). And we’ll both do what we’re comfortable with. Win-win. Ya think?

Great post Debbie, I agree greeting every Newbie would take up so much time and if another way frees you up than I say go for it. Blogging can’t be your life, when you have kids and a hubby. Someone has to do the housework now and again. LOL great choice girl.
Cheryl @ The Creative Me and My McG
I loved the facebook hook-up the other day…it got a few new people over to my blog – thanks again for doing that! Thanks also for the printable…that quote is so true for me as a small, new blogger…it’s really easy to get lost in the sea of big blogs…I am going to hang in near my computer as an everyday reminder…
Anita
Hi Debbie, I have been a follower of yours for a while now and enjoy the blogging world. But how true is your statement. I have to remind myself that material things are not what make us happy and really fulfill us. So, we pace ourselves and try not to let it consume our minds. I am a FB fan of yours so I will be there. Thank you for sharing and your thoughts.. you are very talented ,, so keep those DIY ideas coming!!
debbiedoo's
Oh wow, thanks Anita:) So glad you stopped by to comment. It is hard, but we MUST be content!

Well put Debbie!!
Debbie
Debbie, you have helped me more than you know. I was a newbie last May (guess I’m technically still a newbie!) and your parties were so much fun. Even though I didn’t link up every week, when I did, I met so many new friends. (and I have to tell you, I received more traffic from your parties than any other I joined!!!)
I’ll have to keep an eye out for your Facebook newbie social party. It sounds like fun!
Thanks for everything.
Debbie 🙂

Thank you Debbie, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. So happy to hear you met new friends.
Jane @ Cottage at the Crossroads
Debbie,
You have to do what you feel is right in your heart. I think the FB shoutout will work great for the newbies. FB is pretty much how I keep up with other bloggers anyway! I am so thankful for your newbie party and the wonderful friendships I made by joining them, including your friendship! But it’s probably time to change things up, especially if FB seems to be more effective.
debbiedoo's
Jane it has been a pleasure to watch you grow and make the friendships and connections you and Leo have made. You two are quite a team and I hope you continue to enjoy this journey you are on. I really dig you two! XO
Jeanine
I have to say Debbie! THANK YOU thank you for being real! It’s inspiration to me who’s pretty much all but given up on blogging! I’m going to put my best foot forward and be sure I do I, on the days I can–even if I feel it won’t be good enough! Thank you for lending ME the courage to keep on bloggin’ !
And I will find you on all your sites and share this with my followers and newbie friends too!
Jeanine H Canada!

Wonderful…I just went to your site and noticed on your side bar you have no follow or social media options:( I would fix that, that is HUGE in blogging and people utilize those options. Keep up the great work!
Cindy
You are a trooper Debbie and always so helpful…to newbies and anyone else needing it!
Thanks for always being there!!!
Blessings,
Cindy

I loved linking to your newbie party Debbie and it helped kick start my blog life. Don’t know what I would have done without you :-). I’m sorry I missed the facebook link up. It’s really hard to keep up with everyone and everything. Of course you know that right, that’s just what you were saying!
Doreen
Debbie,
I know this was a hard decision for you, because you really took the newbies under your wing – and I’m fortunate that I was one of them! But, I do think your facebook idea is a great one and agree that may be even more helpful for a newbie! Glad you had a wonderful trip with your family!
Kelly
Oh I just love that quote! Aren’t quotes that speak to you like a little dose of medicine for the soul? I’m glad to hear that you found an alternative way to still host your newbie party. I know it is a great way for new blogs to shine!
Rondell
I’m not big on Facebook Deb, but that doesn’t mean it won’t go over big on it! You have been a wonderful lady helping others trying to get their blog started, I know I’v e enjoyed starting with you!
Kristin @ Simply Klassic Home
You’ve been so awesome to carry this party on for so long. I know how much you love your newbies, and I’m sure this wasn’t an easy decision for you. Always do right by yourself first!! 🙂
Lucy @ Patina Paradise
Hi Debbie, I’m a newbie blogger and boy does this speak to me. I feel like a fish out of water in this new environment and sometimes I am proud of myself for finally starting and then other times I wonder why I even started. I mean who am I kidding, there are already so many talented bloggers! What could I possibly offer that they don’t already offer… I can’t even figure out how to do a link to a photo from another site. Anyhow, I have to do it for myself first and foremost. I’ve ben “pinning” for about a year and a half and have a great following but I think I only have one follower so far on my blog. I will try linking up to your facebook page tomorrow? Thank you for not giving up on us newbies!
Carol
That is a wonderful quote. I think younger bloggers are more susceptible to falling into that trap. Oldsters like me are more apt to just do our own thing and don’t care what others think — usually!
Savvy Seasons
Great post, Debbie! Your personality is always so contagious, because you are so positive and uplifting. 🙂
You’ve helped so many people get their blogs up and running, which is a wonderful thing! 🙂
Pam
Applause!!! Comparison can kill a blogger’s spirit quicker than anything. Thanks for the printable, I’m going to tack it my office wall (really need a bulletin board in there).

Thanks so much for sharing your experience and talents with us newbies. The efforts you put into trying to help us is very much appreciated from me expecially. I learn something new everyday when I read even the smallest of post. I honestly don’t know how you and some of these other bloggers do it….and have something fresh and amazing to share all the time. I get so overwhelmed with trying to do a craft to show you all….I have finally realize and come to the realization that I’m not going to be a blogger that crafts and posts about it. Oh I love to craft but I never remember to take pics. UGH!! Anywho….thanks so much and you don’t know how much your support has kept me going!

Melissa @ Keep Calm ans Decorate
Debbie, you have always been one of my faves! I love your honesty and kind heart. I remember when I first started blogging 3 years ago you were one of my first followers. I think you had your weekly garage sale party then! Anyway, during the first few months my blog got spammed and Google took my blog down. I was devastated, like in tears and cursing the Google gods! You had done a post on bloggers who had gone missing. I think the other gal was named Lee Ann. It made me feel very good to know that somebody had noticed my blog was missing. Well, long story short you had told your readers about my situation and you had sent me a very encouraging e-mail and Google gave me back my blog. I really appreciate the kindness you give to all of your readers and am very glad I found your blog 3 years ago. 🙂

I totally remember that Melissa. I am so glad you stuck around and it all worked out with your blog.

I love this quote and I love how many people you have welcomed to blog land and made them feel special. I remember when I was first starting how welcome you made me feel! You always have been and always will be a rock star in my book!

I agree…that quote IS very important for bloggers! It’s so important to remember WHY you began your blog in the beginning(unless it was to make money) and just keep doing what you love! You may or may not grow really big but if you focus on the happiness of creating, sharing, teaching…..it won’t matter! I have made wonderful friends along the way and you were one of the very first! Several times you have encouraged me and that was so special to me!
It may be hard to make this big change but you also need to think of YOUR life and YOUR blog….just as you tell us to do! Thanks for being YOU!
debbiedoo's
Thank you Lorraine…that is wonderful to hear.

One reason I’m not participating in may link parties lately is because I find it difficult to visit all the participants especially when the numbers are so large. It overwhelms me, so I no longer participate. Cute printable! I think your FB idea is a great compromise.
xo,
RJ

Thanks Ricki…I do too. And yes, I too stopped joining linky parties for the same reason. I may join in one on occasion. Mine theme parties are always small and manageable.
Debbie
I don’t know if you’ll see this, but I saved that printable to frame around here. I am one who tends to see other creative folks and wonder why in the world I ever started a blog. It’s a reminder that I need to see regularly.
And when I saw the part about facebook, I realized that I totally forgot to come here and THANK YOU for putting my kitchen on facebook! That was so nice of you!

Hey Debbie! Just catching up with you a moment this am and wanted to give you a pat on the back. I know you hate to let that party go but it sounds like you have made the right decision at this time. I am always amazed at how well you have figured out how to use ALL the social media sites. You are a social media maven! Whereas, I really could use a social media mentor myself. I still haven’t figured out how your pinterest party works. LOL! One of these days when I get more time I am going to sit down and figure it all out so at least I can enjoy looking at all the pins you ladies do. Keep up all your good work and don’t compare, only you can rock as Debbiedoo’s!
