Hey everyone!
Today I have a new guest over.
Meet Carl
from the blog Daddy Lifestyle.
Carl wanted to share his diy tree stump end table with you all today!
First a little about Carl.
He loves sports, is very competitive and welcomes a good challenge.
Most important, he is a husband and father to an 8 month old boy.
He started his blog with hopes of sharing things he is passionate about and every day life.
I thought I would introduce Carl and you perhaps can be inspired and learn some new diy’s yourself.
Meet Mr. Stump!
I sure have enough of these in our backyard and perhaps I can get Mr. Doo’s to make me one too.
Here’s the main supplies you will need:
1) Tree stump
2) Hammer and flathead screwdriver
3) Coarse and fine sand paper (palm sander optional)
4) Several brushes
5) Wood stain
6) Polyurethane

Here’s the stump with the bark all peeled off. You will notice that the outside is rough and that the edges are rather sharp. I wanted the outside to be really smooth to give it a nice, finished look.
To smooth everything out, Carl decided to put this Black & Decker palm sander to use. He used some coarse sand paper to round the edges of the stump and to get the larger rough patches off the outside of the stump. He then used a more fine sand paper to do the finishing touches.
{Carl gives you the full deets on what he used and how he applied over at his place}
and this will be your end result.
Now that is gorgeous!
I am loving that yellow chair too!

Thanks Carl for being over at my place today.
Please hop on over and say Hi and poke around to see what other fun and inspirational diy’s he has going on.

I’ve seen stump tables before, but not done like this! I love the bark removed & it polished to a shine. It looks amazing! I’ll have to check out his site.

I love this stump end table, but am also in love with the gorgeous yellow chair next to it! You may have inspired my next chair project. Thank you!

How clever. I think we have a few stumps in the yard but doubt it will ever be transformed as well as that.

So pretty and functional too!
Have a great weekend…

Bravo! Looks divine! Been wishing to do something similar all summer. Love home decor with texture and organic. Did you have to dry it out? What about critters? Beautiful work!

I love the look but there wasn’t much info here. I have a stump and I thought I had to wait for it to dry to get the bark off- is that what you did? It looks gorgeous finished and that’s what I want to do eventually with mine. After the poly can you put it outside? Thanks!

Hi Heather, this was a guest post and if you click on the link it takes you to the step by step. I do believe once it has poly on it, you can have it outside.

I had two tree stumps, lol, but was nice to my daughter and let her have one of them. Mine held a fern type plant until the weather got cold and I had to bring it in. Before the fern I had small flowers of some sort. I buy what is pretty, sorry I don’t know the name of them. So our stumps are planters by the front door.

What kind of stain did you use? Do you need to seal the wood before staining?
