I am dropping by Debbie’s to share with you my home in Minnesota. Thank you my sweet friend for having me over at your place! You will always have a very special place in my heart! Hugs
I am in love with Minnesota as much today, as I was when I moved here from California 22 years ago. I moved here … not for a job, but because we fell in love with it while on vacation. Long story! I have lived in my present home for 3 years. Mr Man and I moved here after Miss Precious (our Minnesota grand daughter) was born, to be closer to her as she grows, and to have a home more suited to our wants and needs.
Anybody can drive by our homes and see the outside (and its curb appeal) and I am sure that on any given day, in my neighborhood, it is in the hundreds.
The public at large is never invited in.
(Unless, it is on the market to be sold)
I am sitting in my favorite room writing this and thinking about what makes a home so special to us. For me, it is my oasis away from the world. A place that is private except for those I invite in to share it with me.
Many memories are made in a home … Birthdays, good news, as well as bad, sickness, laughter, silliness, and the list goes on. The “true” you lives in your home. It shows in all the details just what kind of a person lives within it’s walls. As you know from my blog Joy2Journey.com, I am passionate about making my home a comfortable place to be with fun spaces built in that make this home ours.
This morning I am inviting you to come inside and enjoy my home with me … so get your cup of coffee, find a comfy chair, and join me in my home.
As you enter our front door you see my most favorite room. It was dubbed the “White Room” many years ago by my children. It is relaxing to me visually and there are no distractions from a TV. It is a place to think and have conversations with those you love.
Living Room
I love that the upstairs is a great room . Open and spacious where we can be as a family but not tripping over each other. Our dining room opens to the outside deck where Mr Man and I like to hang out in the spring, summer, and fall. The windows really let in light and allow us to enjoy the wooded area behind us. I am still pondering what kind of window covering I want and how I am going to do it.
Dining Room
My kitchen is also a part of this great room. It is situated in such a way that while I am washing dishes or preparing food … I am facing the dining room and living room. I love that I can be part of the fun while still working.
Kitchen
The laundry room/mudroom/bathroom is my current project and it is almost completed. I needed to change a few things to make it work for us. I have made more changes since this picture was taken but I want to save the final pictures for later …. stay tuned 😉
Mudroom/Laundry Room
My bedroom is on the list of things to do but it is fine for now until I finish other projects. I love the simplicity of our room. I don’t love the closet. That is something that I will be doing next winter when I am doing an inside project.
Should I have told Mr Man my intentions first? LOL
“Oh honey … guess what I am doing next winter?!”
Master Bedroom
Our guest room (now Miss Precious’ Room) went through a change last year. I made a Murphy bed, painted, installed wood blinds, and rearranged the room. It is now perfect for sleepovers!
Guest Room
This is a Murphy bed and not a dresser in this picture. I chose to make it to look like one since I made it in a horizontal position.
I made a Reading Nook this past Christmas in a closet on the main floor. It was a fun project for me and let me use some imagination. It is used every weekend during our sleepovers.
Reading Nook
Downstairs houses (no pun intended!) the project that introduced me to blogging. I wanted to make something special for Miss Precious to play in and let her use her imagination. We spend a fair amount of indoors in the winter so that is how my idea of an indoor playhouse took shape. I had space under my stairs and the rest is history!

Dog Space
Paxton, our rescue dog needed a space of his own so last winter I set about making him one … It was a great idea and perfectly located next to the back door.
There are more spaces to be completed downstairs
1. Make my office
2. Update the lower bathroom
3. Finish the workout space
4. Finish a project that I started last year. Super secret!!!
Thank you for joining me on this tour of my home. My coffee is cold, Paxton needs to go out, and projects are calling my name. Make it a great day!
Hugs,
Bliss
I just want to point out that when Joy says ‘she’ made something, she did! Sure Mr. Man helps but she’s the tool wielding carpenter, the real deal.

What a beautiful home! I don’t think I’ve ever landed there before so I’m excited. The reading nook is so precious and I love how BJ has incorporated special places for the kids.
