That is what I feel like after doing one chair!
Now I know why I love spray paint so much. It is way easier to paint a rocking chair with a can opposed to a brush and roller. So many nooks and crannies.
These rockers were purchased many moons ago, and were originally oak.
I then spray painted them black, and lightly distressed them, that was few years back BB (before blogging)
This year our front porch is getting a mini makeover.
I always change out per season, but this year I wanted a dramatic difference.
I am not sure the direction I will be going, however, I did know how I wanted
to redo the rockers.

So I sought out my color…
and decided I would start today.
I sanded the heck out of these chairs after the paint dried.
Tomorrow I will be working on the other chair.
I wanted a change and had to start somewhere.
The hat is not staying, I only threw that on there for special effects.
This was last summer.
I would love some ideas.
We love country rustic, Spanish, Old world decor…
If I can incorporate a little of each, I would be happy.
I want to replace the cross too with something else…

Debbie…I LOVE the rockers!!! Its HARD work, sanding! BLAH! I am kinda seeing a wrought iron wall planter with some pretty ivy or Fern…whatever you do it will be gorgeous!

Love the pop of color on your chairs. What a lot of work! Personally, I will miss the hat!;>) I think you need something between the chairs to "anchor" them….a rustic table of some kind maybe…or a big basket of ferns…a runner rug echoing your colors along in front of the rockers would look great too. okay.I'm done spending your money~ xxoo Diana
FUN color, Debbie! I was just looking at our black rockers yesterday, noticing how some of the paint had chipped away. I might have to pull out the spray paint! Oh, the color is fun! It definitely fits with your "Spanish, old-world" vibe.
We have a store here in St. Louis called Gringo Jones. It's a Mexican Imports store and they have tons of amazing, authentic decor for your home and garden. Maybe if you have a similar store you could take a spin through for some inspiration!
I think the cross works well with the theme you're going for, especially in the blue.
Oh gosh, I saw your black rocker and thought you had just painted those black (like the ones on the new Pottery Barn cover) and I LOVE, LOVE BLACK furniture. So, those black rockers were… well, rockin' my world. But, then I saw your rocker transformation and it's just as amazing, esp. with the cowboy hat… that's a keeper!

The rockers look great! There is a local farmer's market here that carries such fun & colorful things for spring/summer. Large frogs, suns, etc., that are so bright & fun! Perhaps something like that would look great?

They look great! I feel your pain! I recently redid three barstools for my Mom and it was torture! But they look so good! I did, however, use spray paint for my front porch chair! =) Good job!!

I agree with Donnie–the color of those chairs really brings out the subtle color of the brick. Overall it's a very warm effect. Gets me thinking of summer in spite of our snowstorm yesterday! You are crazy creative! Wish I had your originality.

This looks so cool! And, o, I feel your pain with the painting with brushes and rolles. I am trying to wean myself off of spray paint a liitle, too, but it is just so much quicker and easier..

I am not sure how accurate the color I am seeing is but I think something terra cotta would look great with the chairs…and I like Kara's idea of something green – a plant of some sort.

I do love the color you used. Is it a flat paint? I could see some wrought iron pieces on your porch maybe with a small outdoor throw rug. No spray painting here today. It is pouring!

Just wondering — Does your husband "get" your style? It took awhile for my husband to understand and like the distressing but when I glaze something, forget it! It's always the same look on his face and response, "looks like it needs another coat!" He just doesn't get it!
