Happy Saturday to you all and a Happy Memorial day weekend!
Hope you enjoy it with your family and friends, and may you also FIRST and Foremost, take the time to remember those whom have died for our Nation’s service!
Did you know Memorial day was once called Decoration Day? I found a little history on that, and you may like to read about it
Also, just as a reminder that Thursday May 31st is the Magazine copy cat challenge party.
Looking very forward to that as well.
I always use what I have around the house for these challenges. That indeed makes it a bit more challenging, and resourceful.
My upcylced spray painted cans, with a wrap of patriotic ribbon.
Enjoy the weekend, and I will see you later on tomorrow for the Newbie party!

Very cute and very AmeriCANa! Get it? I know I’m so lame. LOL! Seriously, though I really like the cans with the ribbon. It’s such a great idea. I also love the seriousness of reminding us to remember those who have fought and died for our country. We are so thankful!

Have a wonderful weekend, Debbie:)

My grandmother Elizabeth called it Decoration Day. She had the most BEAUTIFUL garden. She saved coffee cans all year long. On decoration day, we decorated them with construction paper and a ribbon, filled them with water and her garden flowers and took them to the family cemeteries. She loved this day of remembrance.
Your cute little cans bring back her memory. Well said, well done, Debbie!

Yep, definitely in the South it is called decoration day, although earlier in our history it was celebrated the first Sunday in May. Since I was born on the first Sunday in May, my family always teased me saying that I was born at the decoration! :/
Sweet post, Debbie. School is out…YAY!!! Enjoy your weekend!

So funny because my husband and I JUST had this discussion because I said I remember celebrating ‘something called Decoration Day’ when I was little. We googled it and found that yes, that’s what they USED to call Memorial Day. Love the little decorated cans!

Very nice reminder, Debbie, of the real reason for the holiday. It’s so easy to get caught up with end of school, cookouts, swimming, & forget about why we get to enjoy all those fun things.
Love those cute painted cans. I may have to copycat your copycat…..lol!
Happy Memorial Day!
