James Island South Carolina
Hi there friends. Today I want to share with you parts of James Island, South Carolina that are new discoveries for us as well. Considering not much to do other than walk and get some exercise, Mike and I have taken full advantage of coming to the condo every other weekend and just getting a change of scenery and fresh air.
We had no idea we lived across the street from a country club golf community. We enjoyed this walk and scenery so much I thought I would share the beauty. James Island is approximately 10 minutes to downtown Charleston and 15 minutes to Folly Beach. It is an amazing location!
This tree-lined community boasted with a variety of trees. Everything from Palm trees, oak trees, Spanish Moss, and along the way beautiful smelling jasmine and pretty flowers and homes to look at.
Spanish moss trees are not from Spain in-spite of their name. Native to Mexico, Central America, South America, the U.S., and the Caribbean. In the U.S., Spanish Moss trees grow from Texas to Virginia, staying in the moister areas of the South. Its preferred habitat is a healthy tree in tropical swampland. Charleston is definitely a moist city. Hence, the Spanish Moss tree grows well here. Many critters like Spanish Moss trees so I wasn’t keen on touching any of it. They sure are beautiful though.
Along the way we admired some beautiful landscape. Each home was prettier than the next. All unique and custom built.
This one here was my favorite. I will be refreshing our front door soon and found the perfect color. I’m guessing Periwinkle and will be on the search for just the right color. We noticed a few other homes in the neighborhood that must have liked this color as well.I am thinking the Perwinkle color will go well now with my recent front porch makeover here.
Many of the homes also had gas lights. We just love those but know they must cost a fortune to run.
Aside from being a golf course community we noticed some homes on the marsh and many boaters out taking full advantage of a glorious day here in the South.
We came back to our little condo and felt so thankful for the beauty that surrounds us. Charleston, South Carolina is truly one of the prettiest cities in America. The tree bark pineapple was recent birthday gift from my friend. I knew it would look perfect here on the little cafe table.
Pineapples are a big thing here in the south. This also goes well with my Pineapple sign I made for the boho kitchen here at the condo.
Hope you enjoyed your stroll through parts of James Island South Carolina.
Today we plan on venturing out again. Who knows what we will see next.
Have a great day friends and stay well.
