DIY Pineapple rustic sign

Hi there friends!

Hope everyone is doing well. Mike and I have had an extended stay here at the condo. I have a little secret that now I can spill. Back a few months ago we were contacted by a representative from HGTV. Our real estate agent that found us our condo recommended us for a segment of Island life living.

We went through extensive interviews, questionnaires, and apparently were adored by the producers. We were chosen! Mike was a bit nervous after we watched the show together to see what it is all about.

Fast forward. A few weeks ago we received a call that the show was cancelled. Our segment of the show that is. They had to cut three out, and sadly we were one of them. We never did get to shoot. I wasn’t terribly disappointed though. Something told me all along it wasn’t happening. With that said, Mike had slotted four extra days time off work to shoot our HGTV segment. We made lemonade out of lemons and kept the time off so we could spend it together here. As a dear friend said to me, the world wasn’t ready for us yet LOL! The process was fun and an experience in itself. What I did learn is Mike and I are an awesome duo. I mean, I knew this before (wink), but to sit down together and have a question answer segment was a lot of fun to hear our responses regarding one another.

Of course, I had been fluffing and crafting in the meantime. I even brought some special things from home to add here at the condo. In hopes, some of our treasures given to us would get some air time.

With having extra down time it was time to get my craft on.

I found this cute pineapple stencil on Amazon. I grabbed the rustic board from Walmart. I have craft paints on hand at all times.

Having a place in the South, it is only fitting to scatter some pineapple accessories around. The ultimate symbol of Southern hospitality. Shaped like a giant pine cone with a voluminous crown, the pineapple immediately commands attention. While it once represented unreachable wealth, the fruit now represents warm welcomes, celebration and hospitality, especially in the South.

I wish this DIY pineapple sign took me longer to make. I enjoyed doing it.

Always use a spray adhesive when stenciling on wood. It keeps your stencil in place. Using a pouncer, and your favorite color choices. Lightly dip, dop, and dab your colors. Remember, less is best. You can always go back and add another layer of color. Find my extensive stencil gallery HERE.

So that’s the simple story of the pineapple sign. I was welcoming HGTV in our home and they blew us off HA!!~ Perhaps next time.

As soon as budget allows we plan on changing out those bi-fold doors. That is where the washer and dryer are. I did at least freshen them up with paint and new hardware.
