Good day everyone! Today, I am sharing how to Mod Podge on wood with paper napkins. You can find pretty napkins just about everywhere. In today’s preview I am using napkins from the Dollar tree and some I recently found at Marshall’s. Both projects I am sharing are very cute, yet very different. When I shared this live on my Facebook there were mixed reviews on the favorite. Some liked the yellow board better while others loved the stain. I personally loved the stain. It just goes to show we all have different taste and styles. Hence, is why I like to share different variations of my projects.
With Christmas right around the corner I have been a busy elf crafting my Christmas gifts early. I actually am almost finished. It’s been an absolute joy. Now to figure out who gets what. I have a general idea. I hope they all like them. Some of course, I am keeping for myself.
This one here is my favorite. I used my new stencil Home is where the heart is for the very first time.
The texture is fabulous on the stained board with the napkins I used from Marshall’s. You know the gel stain is my favorite to use. It dries quickly, and is not messy like the other stains.
I did absolutely nothing to this board after I Mod podged the napkins. Oh for the record, I like to call Mod Podge, MODGE podged. I was corrected of course by a troll on my live video. Turns out most of you call it MODGE as well. Let’s just stick to that, shall we?
I love the chalky red paint used on this board.
The napkin prints really show through.
And that’s how I roll was a favorite for most. Perhaps because the napkins are just adorable. I bet though they would look really cute on the stained board too. These napkins came from the Dollar tree. They will have a lot right now, so hurry up and go grab a few packs.
Now for the video tutorial. I have been editing down these videos a lot. Although, still a bit chatty, not nearly as much so compared to the live video. I do enjoy talking with you all though, so it’s my natural way unedited. But I do know you clearly don’t have all the time in the world to hear me gab.

Hey Debbie……….I love this idea. Even I can do this one. So easy, and especially inexpensive. I even have some napkins I bought at the Dollar store just because I liked them. But just remember, Debbie, you are no one until you’ve been scolded by a troll. I guess now you have arrived. Every single person I know who crafts says Modge Podge. How sad to think all the troll has to do is hang out under the bridge all day, waiting to correct someone’s pronunciations. Sad, sad troll.

Hi, Debbie! You are really going to town creatively speaking! I would like to try one of these. There are so many pretty napkins out there I think they really make attractive backgrounds for the stenciling. What kind of Modge Podge do you use? I’ve never used it before.

Hi Naomi, I used the traditional mod podge in the matte finish for these projects. You can find them all most anywhere now, even Walmart.

What size are the boards you use for the napkin mog lodge n what’s the best wood to use?
These boards were 20×9, but next time I would have them cut smaller to perhaps 17X9. The boards I purchased at Lowe’s hardware and I bought a Pine board and had them cut it for me there, for free:)
Do you cover the painted stencil with mod podge for a more finished look/ feel to the wood?
Yes, you can do that for certain.

Hi Julie, I sanded it because I wanted it to look a bit more weathered and distressed. I sanded it lightly on the top and sides of ornaments. It is a personal preference.
