Hi friends! Thanks for stopping by today. Y’all are actually the inspiration for today’s post. I had several questions about other ways to use drop cloths for curtains in the home, and I thought I would do some homework and find more inspiration for you.
My recent porch drop cloth curtain project was a big hit! Thank you. I can tell you, I was not the genius behind this idea. In fact, it’s been done many times and there is no one person to give the credit too. Every one does seem to have their own twist when making drop cloth curtains.
So today, I thought I would share 15+ drop cloth curtains that may inspire you. Even though the typical use for a drop cloth is for covering furniture or flooring to protect it from dust or while decorating and painting. I have personally found drop cloths useful for many projects, such as pillows, utensil holders, table runners and more.
Today, though let’s stick with curtains. You are going to enjoy the 15+ Drop cloth curtain ideas here today.

These are all lovely ideas. How do you prepare the drop cloths? Do you wash, add bleach or to see if they shrink? What is your favorite brand?

I didn’t wash these ones, however, I did spray some light fabric softener on them and throw them in the dryer for a few minutes. You will get some fraying at the ends but nothing that can’t be trimmed off.

Dropcloths are such a great source of inexpensive fabric! I love these ideas! I haven’t used them as curtains yet, but used them for backdrops for our sales…and for a cover on our loveseat, too.

Hello Debbie, I love this idea. Didn’t notice the things under the bench, but did notice the fan. Do you use this in the summer or just a deco? If I was younger I would really try this. I have an opening in my car port perfect for this idea……See you over on Facebook, Later…….

We actually use the fan Judith on occasion. We even bring it to the backyard sometimes. Thanks.

Hi Debbie,
I LOVE all your drop cloth ideas! You have inspired me!!
My husband and I recently purchased an older motorhome that I can’t wait to redo.
My question is, can drop cloths be dyed? And if so, what is the best/easiest way? And after the dye, stenciled?
My color theme will be red, white and black, leaning towards vintage. Any ideas??
debbiedoo's
Yes Kelli, you can dye drop cloths. I would use Rit dye and follow their instructions. Rit dye has a fabulous website as well. And absolutely you can stencil on that after:)

I Love this idea! So much so that I went out and bought 4 drop cloths to use to make porch curtains….but I was disappointed to find that the ones I bought are all pieced together with seams going both vertically and horizontally! Not really what I wanted…do you know if all dropcloths are like this? Your pictures look like many are solid one piece lengths…have you had this problem? and if so, what did you do?
debbiedoo's
Hi Pamela, you can go to Home depot or Lowes and buy them too. I believe that is where I found mine and they only had the stitching at the end.
Stacy
HI. I have brought home about 4 different brands of 9 by 12 drop clothes all have a vertical seam in the middle of the fabric. Can you tell me which brand does not have the seam ? Thank you
debbiedoo's
Hi Stacy, I have bought mine all over without having an issue with seams. Keep in mind if you are using these to tie back you won’t even see the seam.
debbiedoo's
Did you click on the link to Amazon that I leave in the post? Those look like they don’t have a seam.
Brooke
The ones at Lowes have a seam and the ones at Home Depot do not 🙂
Anne
Have you ever dyed drop clothes to another color?
debbiedoo's
No but you certainly can.

Chicago canvas is a great drop cloth. I purchased 4-9’ x 12’, 10-ounce , no seams in the middle. I paid less than $80 for all 4 on Amazon and shipping was free!

I love your site nut it comes up with adds all over the screen so much so that I couldn’t see your kitchen. It had an add up top section and you add to look at stencils that you just can’t remove I’m using apple iPhone so shouldn’t have a virus. Just thought you should know
Love your work
