Don’t you just love that song “If I had a million dollars”
If I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars
Well, I’d buy you a house
I would buy you a house
Well, I’d buy you a house
I would buy you a house
And if I had a million dollars
If I had a million dollars
I’d buy you furniture for your house
Maybe a nice Chesterfield or an ottoman.
If I had a million dollars
I’d buy you furniture for your house
Maybe a nice Chesterfield or an ottoman.
It’s a catchy tune no doubt. Gets you thinking too, if only a million dollars would land on your lap. Not going to happen in my lifetime, that’s for sure! I am pretty content with what we have. Both my husband and I work hard, we play hard, and we enjoy our home life to the fullest.
What I haven’t enjoyed these days is our bathroom renovation. Not something we were planning on. There was no choice. Our tile was literally falling off the wall. Mold was growing faster than our grass, and it certainly was not a joy taking a fresh morning shower.
These pics are just snippets of the crud. I am way too embarrassed to even show the rest. This is only after one day of not scrubbing it. It was worn down, porous and the water just was trapped. Oh but, have I learned a lot in the process and I can’t wait to share it with you all. 10 bathroom contractors later. I wound up with a gem of a contractor. There was probably some things my husband and I could have DIY’d. But truth be told, when you are dealing with plumbing and water leaks, it’s out of our scope of expertise.
I have a friend in Florida who went through quite and ordeal back a few years ago. Her husband simply changed the shower head. Little did they know for years water was seeping in their walls. They later discovered the mold and had to move out of their home for over a month and have the entire upstairs gutted out. So, yeah, we are not messing with plumbing. Leave it to the experts, where it belongs.
This is just a quick cell phone snap of what has been done so far. I can’t wait to share the reveal, and what we have learned along the way. It may help someone out in the future.
In the meantime..I entered this contest, and I wanted to pass this onto you as well. It may not be a million dollars, but it sure would help right now!
I have more work to do upstairs. UGH! This is our forever home though. Our best investments are right here under our feet. “Home wasn’t built in a day”:) my friends.
XO
Good luck.

I will hunt you down and super glue headphones on your ears that are only playing that song on repeat, if I am still singing or saying “haven’t you always wanted a monkeeee”, by bedtime tonight.

Oh my gosh that was one of my favorite songs back in the day. I think my kids played it a million times. 🙂 Your bathroom is turning out great. I adore the bathtub fixtures. A million dollars would be amazing for sure. I have always said I would make a very good rich person. Ha!

Can’t wait for the total reveal; it is already terrific! ’10 contractors later’…….Oh My Goodness, what a ‘migraine’ that must have been for you!!! Especially with holidays and guests just around the corner. Looks like it’s nearing completion YAY; when it’s all done, you’ll feel like a queen in you new bathroom! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.

Thank you! Yes, I already do feel like a queen just walking in. It is so refreshing to see a clean new shower.

What you are doing looks amazing. Oh, I cannot even imagine how awful “mold” would be, Debbie! I’ve heard so many horror stories about mold infestations and insurance not covering the renovations. Guess I’ll continue to put up with our hot-dry summers…mold doesn’t stand a chance here…..unless you rely on evaporative coolers instead of air-conditioning! Can’t wait to see your big reveal!
