I’m the type of person who likes to utilize every square inch of our home. We don’t have a very large home, but it’s not small either. I like all the space in our home to be utilized in some way. Whether it be the guest room, the little frog room upstairs and even our outdoor spaces. We “live” here, and I want that cozy feeling everywhere.
Today, I am sharing how I created a cozy outdoor deck.
Finally, the sun came out today. I want to say it’s been about 3 weeks since the sun has shined here. I was starting to feel real crappy already. I sort of get that seasonal funk, but it doesn’t hit me typically until the end of January.
It’s been a weird season already. We were inundated with acorns on our deck this year. It gets messy when the leaves start falling. Seems every few years a big ole Oak tree we have in our yard produces these mass quantities of acorns. The other evening it sounded like a hail storm. They actually woke me up in the middle of the night. Man, I was mad! Poor Mike had to hear me grumbling and see me smash my pillow over my head. I’m a crab apple if I don’t get my sleep.
Remember back in the Summer I shared our outdoor deck? You may have noticed the pretty table out there with the blue umbrella.
That pretty table has not been sat at in a few years. We purchased that in South Florida around 13 years ago. The set was built like an iron tank. Very pretty and in good condition, but again, not used in a very long time.
And not to mention, does this look that cozy? Not really. The chairs are heavy, and not that comfortable long term. They are sturdy though, and if outdoor dining is what you do, then a table is your thing.
I decided to sell it.
Surprisingly, my husband didn’t even bat an eye. He knew it was a waste sitting out there and why not have someone else enjoy it as we did for many years. Considering we have this picnic table down below where our pizza oven is, we just didn’t need another table anymore.

We built our own pizza oven, however, I found one that I know friends have and LOVE. A whole lot cheaper too. Would make for an awesome Christmas gift for your hubby:)
So with the proceeds of the sale:):) I decided to create a conversation area that would be cozy and that we may actually utilize a little more. Especially, if we only have a few guests over and it’s a nice day to go sit outdoors for a bit.
These ceramic owl stool benches (aff. link) were a must have.
Not only will they serve a purpose as a side table, they are also a stool to sit on.
SCORE! The white ones were on back order for a while. But seem to be available now for the same price I paid. That is something you can count on with me. Shopping around for the best price.
Cozy rattan chair (aff. link)
These are very cozy and will withhold the weather. I wanted something that will hold up all year round. Rattan always does. At least, here in the South it does.
Outdoor rooster and sunflower pillows (aff.link)
Outdoor pillows add that extra cozy and fun pop of color, that I love. I always arrange my pillows in odd numbers, 3, 5,7 etc. They don’t have to be all matchy matchy either. As long as the color combo is the same, it will coordinate nicely.
Wicker outdoor bench (aff. link)
The bench can seat up to 3 people. Fire up that pit and we will be snug as a bug. I might have to get out the fall blanket.
Outdoor gas firepit (aff. link) I have always wanted one of these. The nice thing about it, is it runs on propane, and safe for the upper deck area. No real fire pits allowed up here.
And you put it all together, and this is what you get!
Now if we can only get to enjoy it for a month or so before Winter hits here in the Carolina’s. Although, we don’t get bad winters, and on occasion catch a nice day..I am hoping we can get out here soon.
You may have noticed some acorns in strange places. Took me two hours to clean up out here today, and I still missed some.
Thanks so much for stopping over today.

I receive emails often asking where I purchase this or that. I decided I would put in links to my favorite things and you can find them just the same. Easier too!
If you are not a regular here, I sure would love to see you back again.

Looks so nice Debbie. You’ll probably wonder how you lived without it. We hardly used our outdoor areas this Summer either; too hot and allergies make me an indoor person, but I really like your deck and the cozy, happy area yo created. Enjoy!

Your deck looks great Debbie. It does look cozy and a great place to spend Fall days or evenings. It was nice to have the sun come out today, but we have a lot of cleanup to do after all the rain.

You’ve outdone yourself again looks so inviting. I would love to sit there with a cup of hot Apple cider on a cool fall evening and just cut with you for awhile. Love the large rooster pillow!

Hi Debbie, I read all of your posts via email and FB, but thought I would stop over and say hi. I love your porch redo. I recently redid the layout of my living room and I am so surprised how people now use the living room all of the time now instead of crowding around the kitchen stools. Happy fall to you!

Very cute and inviting. I love the owl stools. It is so hot and humid here that we don’t get to use our patio much at all. So glad that you survived all the rain. I thought about you. At least Clemson won their ball game in all that rain!!!

Yes, we were pretty water logged and thank goodness for rain gear. We looked like Barney but we were dry. It was a lot of fun!

This post is so timely. My mom and I were talking the other day about doing something like this with our deck.
