So it’s been around 5 weeks since our son has left home for College. I miss him. I really do, but I am very content knowing he is happy, thriving and pursuing his dreams. What more can we ask for right?
I am close with a lot of the Moms here who too are now a one kid-less family. Some now are even empty nesters. That must be hard I am sure and I am thankful we still have 4 more years of Jack home.
Today, I am sharing creative sweet treats packaging ideas! I decided to put together some care packages for the college students and of course I had to as my friends and family like to say, put the Debbiedoo’s touch on them. Today, I am sharing ideas for sending care packages to college students.
I have about 6-7 kids I am sending little goodies to. Now sure, I could stand here in my kitchen all day baking and slaving over some cookies. But why should I when the grocery store bakery department has such a nice and tasty variety of cookies.
Not to mention one of the kids has a peanut allergy. UGH! That must be awful too. It’s so nice that the bakery section actually carries a peanut and nut free cookie.
I couldn’t resist these cute cookies. Football season is here, and we know how college kids go crazy for their football team.
These cookies here are the peanut and tree nut free. They are sugar cookies and are pretty tasty too. I bought enough to sneak one or two in for myself.
The girls are getting the peanut butter reeses cookies. I am sure they will enjoy those a tad more.
All these kids are spread out across the state and going to different universities. We have Clemson, (orange) USC (black) and College of Charleston, which I am not even sure of their colors but I do know they are near the beach. So I went with white and teal for the girls.
The material I bought at Walmart for a dollar . I simply cut it in half and was able to get two sachet’s out of each.
I put the cookies in ziplock bags to keep fresh. Then I wrapped the fabric around and tied a bow around the top.
It fits perfectly into a take out container. I found these at Michaels in a package of 10.
Each container is personalized with a little something cute. Of course, this is where the kids will roll their eyes and say what does she think we are still 10 years old? Whatev’s….”you sassy young people just eat your cookies”! I had fun making these:)
The girls have a beachy box with their initials in bling.
The USC students have a personal box with their initial stenciled and an inspirational quote.
I hope this inspired you to send something to a College student you may know or may have yourself, simply “just because”. We miss them and want them to know we are thinking of them. Plus, I think it is fun to receive mail. My next send out will be a handwritten letter. Ahhhh…back to the golden oldie days!

Debbie, you are so cute! This is such a good idea. My children live in different states now. I’m thinking they would love to receive something like this from Mom. I would have to make them though; they love Mom’s homemade cookies!

I can assure you that college kids love getting goodies from home. After a hard day of classes or an all nighter studying, getting a package in the mail will make their day. They will be the envy of their friends.

This is really sweet of you Debbie ~ oops that’s a pun isn’t it? Sorry, they just pop out of my mouth all the time. Sorry I have been a stranger. I promise to come back to see you more often. Too many changes and deaths in my family have made it more difficult.

Cute ideas and I have tons of leftover fabric! I have kids and grandkids in Charlotte, NC that we send to. The grandkids love getting treats of any kind and I’m always on the lookout for cute packaging ideas. Thanks!

Love the packaging….I truly think that sometimes people appreciate and love and thought that went into the packaging more than the contents itself!…Great, great ideas Debbie!

Very cute and very thoughtful, Debbie! I’m hungry now looking at those cookies. : ) I’d probably go the same route. I’m not much of a baker, and our local grocery has such wonderful cookies in their bakery, too. One of the only grocery store bakeries I’ve been, too, that carries a nice selection of fresh made gluten free items. Of course, I haven’t been to the new Whole Foods here yet, but I understand they carry quite a bit of gluten free stuff, so I’m sure they have other allergy free items, too.

What kid wouldn’t love to get a cookie treat box?
Those football shaped ones were so cute!!

Great post Debbie! Sure these were appreciated. Reminds me of a Packaging Insider post I saw – so amazing how packages for baking have so much potential to be creative. –
