These cute little critters are from Pottery barn purchased last year. |
Someone please tell me what these are. THey are filled with coffee beans and a little prize??? Is it a tradition? |
Added fresh greenery to the top of the entertainment center. |
That’s a wrap for the Holiday living room this year. Thanks for stopping over. Now it is time to catch up on my comments from my kitchen post. Thanks so much for stopping by. |
The Garden Bell
Silly girl.. Those are an ENGLISH, as in Royal tradition. They are to be opened at the Christmas table. Over on the other side of the pond they have a crazy paper hat to be worn. Leave it to the Royal to come up with something like that.
Meet you for a picnic later this week. Now, I must get serious about the other wrappings. At least, "MOMs" is bought, always a struggle for us kids.
Nice to see the list checking down. But, feels strange to not have a tree and have to worry about packing for TPA and the MILs. But, the sun will feel good again.
Off to stir up something for dinner.

Don't know what those things are called, Debbie. I see them in stores but never know what they are for. Your home is so warm and inviting, love all your decor. It seems like it is cold everywhere….Christine
Amy @ Keep'n The SunnySide
In the 2nd picture, those are Christmas Crackers. Real Christmas Crackers actually POP when two people pull on either end. Sort of like a tug of war. Inside is usually candy, a small toy, and a paper hat. They are really fun, and easy to make out of paper towel rolls. You can purchase the snappers online so they POP!
Melanie
Those little candles are so cute! I've never seen anything like that before!
Everything is just beautiful!! 🙂
Kim @ Savvy Southern Style
I see someone told you that they are crackers. I know they pop when you pull it and you find a prize inside. Your living room is warm and cozy which is surely what we need in this crazy cold weather.
Glenda/MidSouth
Everything looks so pretty! Really like the candles, but I probably would not burn them. 🙂
Those are "crackers", but don't think I have ever heard of putting coffee beans in them – hmmmm! They usually have a little trinkets and candy. You can make them with special items in them such as a piece of jewelry
Enjoy your evening.
Richella
Everything looks very pretty, Debbie! If it's as cold in your part of the Carolinas as it is in mine, then you're glad for some Christmas warmth on this day! 🙂

Those are the cutest animal candles!Everything looks so cozy but festive.
Linda @ A La Carte
Your vignettes are so pretty. Love it that you seem ready for Christmas!
Hattie
So pretty! I love how warm and cozy everything looks. I think I like those lovely white stockings the best!
Pat
I see the cracker question has been answered. Had no idea they were made with coffee beans!
Everything looks beautiful, Debbie.
Thanks for coming by and thank you for the compliment on my ribbon technique. Truth be told, many a long year ago, I made grapevine wreaths and decoated them to sell. I learned the ribbon thing way back then. Also, the grapevine wreaths were made from wild grapevine, brought home by J. You should have seen the kitchen at the farm…small very small…covered with grapevines! Ah yes, those were indeed my younger years.:-)

Hi Debbie,
Thanks for your comment. It's nice to know I'm not "crazy" all by myself…LOL! No wonder we relate so well to each other.

I'm reading that first comment trying to figure out what they are still, but anything with coffee in it has to be fabulous!!! 😀
I love the greenery and the books best! The place looks beautiful!
Victoria
Beautiful vignettes Debbie, everything looks lovely:)
Just as everyone else has mentioned, those are Christmas crackers, or at least made to look like them. My mom used to put them on tree and on Xmas day we were allowed to pop them. One person pulls on each end and they pop. They have a toy and a paper crown inside:)
Pam @ diy Design Fanatic
Those critter candles are adorable Debbie!

Hey Debbie! Ok, so this post popped up before I even got a chance to comment on your last one so I just have to tell you first how much I love your kitchen. It is gorgeous! The cabinets and the counters are beautiful and all of your Christmas touches are lovely. I adore that cider cannister! And, your vignettes in your living room are wonderful. You got the touch my friend!

I have seen those things around too, but have never really understood the significance of them. They are kinda neat looking though aren't they. I always thought they had something to do with Jewish traditions, but not really sure. Your greenery is so pretty! I really love lots of greenery around, maybe next year I will do that! As for your nativity, girl, get that thing unpacked and join the party. I want to see it, I bet it is wonderful!
Lori
Wow you are super decked out! I love everything.

I saw a tutorial somewhere on how to make the cracker things. Easy really. Your home is festive and beautiful Debbie. Merry Christmas!
Melissa
The animals are adorable…
Your living room is festive but doesn't feel like holiday overload.
Jemsmom
Everything looks perfect for the holiday season! Those are definitely Christmas crackers. There shouldn't be any coffee beans in there though! They should have a little toy, some candy and a paper crown to wear. One of my BFF's married a British guy. We met them in Spain for Christmas one year and had to do the crackers when we had our Christmas dinner. Tom and I do them every year now! I love it! You just pull on each end until they crack open!

Your home is just beautiful and I love everything you have done for the holidays! Wow…that is a great shot of your living room! I can only dream of having that much space! 🙂

Living room looks great Deb. I see that everyone has answered the big question! The kids loved them even though I couldnt explain to the mom's what they actually were. Happy Holidays

Love all the additions to your Christmas living room. Perfect touches, beautiful room.

What funky little animal candles. Now all the poor little animals in your yard are peeping in your window and running for the hills (or gullys-or whatever you have there in the Southland).
We always called those "poppers" even though they are really called crackers by most people. The kids in the area used to make them out of (perish the thought) empty toilet paper holders. Hmmm…hope the last hand that held them had been washed first-if ya get my drift.
Anyway, your house looks lovely and Christmasy- You have done a great job decorating and I am so happy to see that you are continuing to blog. I missed ya! Hugs and hope you have a great week- Diana

Your vignettes are lovely, Debbie, and the crackers will be fun!

As everyone has told you, those are English Christmas Crackers. The "real" ones always contain a paper crown, a joke, and a small toy. We have had them at our Christmas dinner forever, and love them. Some of our best pictures are everyone with their silly crown on. After all it is a birthday party isn't it? If yours have coffee beans in them, they are homemade and that is special too. Enjoy!
Tammy @BeatriceBanks

I know you've been told this many times already, but being and 'English Lass' myself 😉 I just have to say that yes, those are Christmas Crackers. They are set out at the table on Christmas (or even when you go to restaurants for your office Christmas dinner!) you pick it up at one end, offer the other end to the person sitting next to you and 'pull'… the cracker 'pops' and inside we would find a paper party hat, a little toy and a little fortune or saying, kind of like what you get in a fortune cookie 🙂 I couldn't get them here in the US for years, but now I see them, World Market has them and I think Target might even carry them sometimes.
Love all your decor btw, but I seem to have written a book so I'll shut up now!
Sue
Deb- You're getting festive, my dear!! Love the natural greenery and those cutie little "critters." Off to see the kitchen post…. TTYL- Sue
