Hi there everyone!
I don’t sew..you probably figured that out by now based on my hot glue pillows and other no sew projects.
Today, I am sharing how to add length to your drapes without sewing.
I discovered the best product ever. You don’t even need an iron.
You can hem anything, add trim, and in my case add length to drapes.
So let me start with the basics.
I bought these pretty drapes from Home goods. A new Home good just opened up literally 10 minutes from home. It’s going to be trouble, I can feel it.
I bought this peel n stick from Walmart months ago. I never used it before and I was curious on how it worked.
Now was the time to try it.
You can see how long and tall these windows are. A traditional 84 inch comes down to the window sil. I knew I needed at least 12 more inches added to come to the ground.
So I measured first and cut the brown panels about twelve inches long. I adhered the peel n stick across the bottom of the other panel and removed the top strip.
That left me with a clear adhesive.
I placed my cut brown panel making sure that the hem line on the bottom was not backwards and showing the stitching.
There you go!
Would you ever know the difference?
Now I do have to take the steamer and get some of these wrinkles out.
I’m so happy with the turn out. Our bedroom is getting a little Fall/Winter makeover. It’s been years since I bought new panels. Because they are so expensive for longer ones. The total cost for both windows was less than $50.00. I had some reward dollars too so in essence it cost me around $30.00.:)
Thanks so much for stopping over today. If you are not a regular, I sure would love to see you back again.

Had to have a candle going while I worked in here today. I adore these crackling wick woodwick candles. They last forever and smell oh so good!

You had me at no-sew curtains! We have tall windows too, and I can never find inexpensive curtains in the right length. Thanks sooo much for the tip! 🙂

Oh wow…and I thought I had it made with Stitch Witchery – no iron either? Score!!!!! Yeah…I’m pretty sure you’re gonna need a credit card set aside for Homegoods purchases alone. =/

I hear ya Holly! I have a credit card that earns rewards there. Double trouble:)

What a great invention, Debbie! I do sew, but I’m all for anything quick and easy and certainly seems to be both. The drapes look great, too. I’m the same way. I would like to switch out drapes in the master (and other rooms) with the seasons, but those I’ve brought with me from the old house don’t work here and I’m not looking to spend a couple of hundred dollars per window. So, I’m living with what I bought when we moved and will watch for sales.
Kim
Well, aren’t you the smart one. They look great!

Any HomeGoods is dangerous but one 10 minutes away is pretty much deadly! Love the new look…

I have never tried to use that stuff but always think Im going to. I will have to find a project now. Love the longer curtains.

You are a woman after my heart! My motto is If I can’t glue it I won’t do it!! I can barely sew a button on anything. I love these little wonderful tricks. Thanks for sharing that!
debbiedoo's
I have tried sewing in the past. I can do a button, but no guarantee it will stay on:)

WOW, such a great idea, and since I don’t sew either, even better!
Raquel
Oh these are beautiful Debbie! I do not even own a sweing machine so I love no-sew projects. And yes, having a Home Goods nearby is especailly dangerous. 🙂

I dig this sister girl. I loved your panel before you lengthened it, now I love it more. I agree on the woodwick candles.

The curtains look fabulous. I adore anything no sew. Btw, I love the new blog look.

Great idea !!!! I say if I cant glue it,fuse it, screw it or staple it I wont do it! LOL The reviews did say it doesnt hold fabric to fabric very well but yours seems to work just fine!

Oh my word! I’m so glad I stumbled onto your blog post! My 16 month old decided to pull two pieces off our blinds so now there’s a gaping hole. And because I can’t sew nor do I want to spend money on expensive drapes/curtains (because the 16 month old is just going to ruin it!), I’m going to use a flat sheet temporarily but my issue (before I ran into your blog) was that the sheets aren’t long enough! Thank you, thank you!!!! I’m going to try your idea out!!
Christy
I Love it! I searched hi and lo for the perfect design drapes for my babys nursery and finally found it, but it was 84″ =( I needed 96″! What brand strips did you use? can in be any peel and stick kind of tape?
debbiedoo's
Yes it can be any. You can even use the iron on tape type. It will all work the same
Carol
What a brilliant idea! I sew but I am definitely going to try this. My husband and I are building a new home and I shudder every time I think about the cost of buying 108 inch drapes for all of those windows. This will reduce my cost significantly. I can’t believe how well your drapes turned out.
debbiedoo's
Thanks Carol. Best wishes to you in your new home!

Thankyou so much Debbie for this brilliant idea! I can sew, but just haven’t had the time to add length to my new curtains ( a bolster case which I unpicked a few months ago! ) which are about 15 ” too short for my bedroom window. I have a matching duvet cover and pillowcases, but no longer use the bolster cover and thought it would make a nice curtain. I’ll go right now and finish them off with that double sided tape and it will be done in a jiffy!
Sheryl
Love the curtains AND the paint color. What color is it?
debbiedoo's
The color is called cappuccino by restoration hardware. Thank you!
Nancy
These look wonderful!! Great job and great tip. I love your blog, thanks for sharing

Hi, I loved your article on no sew curtains to add lenghth. I am now ordering my 84″ panels to make into 95″. SO very excited. My question to you is where in the world did you get your hanging light fixture? I adore it? Please let me know. Its so unique. I am looking for something similar even if it is has to be adapted from original version lol. Thank you again..
debbiedoo's
Hi Tanya, that is actually an outdoor candle sconce I found at Lowe’s a few years back.
Coretta Perry
Hi Debbie,
I too want to get started like you. I hope we will be able to exchange ideas. I own a sewing machine, but refuse to pull it out. Thanks so kindly for this tip. I’ll stay tune.
Corinne
Thank you for the great idea. I am not going to unstitch the narrow hem on my Ikea drapes. Just stick some fabric under them and I know that the fabric will look straight No one is going to get on their knees to examine the bottom of my drapes. Love this idea.

Exactly! Only you will know:)
