Hi there all you lovelies. Hope you had a fabulous day! It has been a long time since I really cleaned my kitchen.
I mean really cleaned, like on top of cabinets and in between nooks and crannies. Since 2011 I think! HA
I tell you this blogging gig, really takes a lot of your time up, and leaves no time for cleaning.
Well, it all started with some new burlap panels that I bought on an impulse through Ballards catalog
Back in the day, I admit, I shopped the catalog a lot more frequently than I do now.
With Alex only a few short years away from college, I try to save our money and shop more wisely. In fact most of our decor in the kitchen is either, thrifted, gifted or made.
Keep in mind,
I have had FREE burlap coffee bags on our windows for about year.
Which now, makes for a lovely table runner if I may add!
I waste nothing, usually find another home for it somewhere.
Do you know I have about 25 Roosters in our kitchen?
You would never know until you start counting.
The freshen even went to reupholstering our kitchen chairs.
Of course they are all scattered about, so it does not look cluttered or anything!
{Can you hear me choking and gagging over that one}
A lot of these roo’s have been given to me throughout the years. They hold sentimental value.
My Vintage knock off bar stools are still hanging in there too. I won’t paint these, don’t worry.
My little goodwill table redone.. this was the second time around for her.
And some just get nipped and tucked wherever they may roam.
This guy is stuck in a jar. He was from the Dollar tree:)
My Mom gave us this lovely platter and pitcher a few years back.
Always nice to pull it out this time of year.
My Mom keeps adding to my collection!
And then of course my friends do as well.
I am loving my new rooster pitcher with the faux lemons on the table.
you spy my new diy painters tarp pillow too:)?
Oh look a rooless corner!
NOT…the case, the dishes have roosters on them too.
Oh wait, here is a rooless corner.
In fact here is my very first DIY stenciled art work...
I have not had this out in about two years.
Ahhh the memories of the recipe stencil, long, live on!
I love my vintage scale. This one my Mom scored
Have you figured out, I love color?
While everyone else jumped on the white wagon, which is lovely btw…
I just don’t see it ever happening here for us.
We really love the Hickory wood cabinets and the warm vibrant feel we get with them.
I finally got a new little rustic step stool too. I needed one bad.
Certainly lightened and brightened for Summer!
So that is the ever living changes in our Country French kitchen.
If you have ever dreamed about being published in a magazine…it can happen. You don’t need a million dollar kitchen nor budget to go along with. Be unique, creative and make it your own. You just may get noticed without even trying!
Back in July of 2011 our Kitchen was published in
Country Woman Magazine
I thought it was a prank call to be honest with you when the editor called me on the phone.
I still pinch myself and say really?
So many blessings and wonderful things can happen when you put yourself out there on the world wide web.
You can check it out and see what our kitchen looked like back then.
You see I am always ready to perk it up per season, and do so
on a friendly budget.
All the links highlighted in red take you to the projects and tips
2. Make your own pillows out of drop clothes
3. Paint your small home decor to give a fresh look
4. Go thrifting
6. Change up what you already have in other places..play around with your vignettes and make them different. Mod podge on just about anything you can, a terra cotta pot looks fabulous when mod podged.
7. Change up your curtains, walmart also has a great selection of pretty valances.
8. Make your your own valances out of burlap bags.
9. Repurpose an old wreath to make a new again.
10. Make your own tea towels and napkins and even cute
utensil holders out of drop clothes
I have changed things even since doing this post.
YIKES, I don’t let any grass grow under my feet.
Hey not sure if you follow me along on Facebook, but I sure would love to see you over there!

HI Debbie Dear! I’ve been out cruising the high Atlantic and just got back a few days ago and I just had to pop over and see what you were up to. I love your Rooster filled kitchen and what an inspiration you are with all of your doing and crafting! Now those two little Rooster playing face off? I saw some just like those in Portugal! I didn’t even buy them! Can you believe it? Well, I’m wishing you a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉

Our cabinets are hickory too, white will never happen due to a huge veto by the man of the house. And I refuse to let you inspire me to do a thorough cleaning. That’s not happening either but yours looks marvelous.

I love your kitchen, Debbie. And I love your collection of roos. That pretty nesting hen by your stove is wonderful. I love it! I can see why your lovely kitchen was featured in a national magazine.
College is so expensive. Our oldest has a full scholarship, but it’s still costly! Our youngest is finishing her freshman year in HS, so we’ll have one in graduate school and one in college at the same time! We’ll be eating beans on toast for at least a couple of years! :/

I think the all white spaces are beautiful but not a good fit for me either. I have only a few roosters BUT one is Ethan Allen that my mom bought when I was a tweenager (5 decades ago! 🙂 and sadly I broke the hen.

I love all your roos!! I’ve been on the hunt for a vintage kitchen scale for some time now. Hope to find one soon. Is that a pic of your sweet pup above the food bowls? I’m thinking of doing something similar above my kitten’s bowls. 🙂 Your kitchen looks fabulous!!

Oh and thanks for the great give-a-way. I was just at Dollar Tree the other day and picked up a ton of stuff. Man, you can sure load the buggy full for about $60 buck-a-roos!
